Ah, the dreaded question, “How to convert nutrition applications into paying clients?”If you’ve been getting applications but STILL don’t have folks enrolled in your program, it’s not you. It’s your sales pitch!
I know how overwhelming it can feel when you’re starting your nutrition business. You always wonder “am I actually going to be able to make money doing something I care about?” The answer is yes, yes you can.
ALWAYS HAVE AN APPLICATION PROCESS
Don’t just hand out your cards and tell folks to email you or have them sign up for a discovery call without getting information on their health history. Having an application provides you with the opportunity to understand what your future client is going through before you connect with them 1:1. It also prevents you from wasting the time of those who are dealing with symptoms or illnesses that are outside of your wheelhouse.
Just the other day, I had an application for a woman who had Lyme disease, parasites, and she had already changed her diet extensively. While I could be a supportive resource for her, in the application she listed money as something that might hold her back from working together. Instead of getting her on the phone, I wrote back to let her know based on where she’s at, her resources would be better spent with a functional doctor who had a deep understanding of lyme. I also recommended she look into mold illness as a potential root cause.

GET THEM ON THE PHONE
Your client is sooo close to being ready to commit by the time they send in an application. It takes energy to fill that out, but they need some reassurance that you’ll be the right coach for them. While it takes some extra time, it’s worthwhile to get your client on the phone to ease their worries, establish yourself as an expert health detective who can solve their case, and share why your package options are going to help them achieve their health goals.
Does that sound super scary to you? I totally understand. I’m not a phone call lady myself. HOWEVER, once I transitioned from email-only communication with leads to phone conversations with leads, my client base exploded.

SEND A FOLLOW UP EMAIL
The fortune is in the follow up. After you’ve impressed your clients with all your wisdom and compassion, make sure you follow it up with an email telling them exactly how they can sign up to work with you. If they don’t sign up immediately, follow up a couple days later to see if you can answer any more questions for them about your services.
Following up is neither pushy nor salesy. People have busy lives and some folks are on the fence. Show your future client now attentive you are by checking in with them during the sales process.
