During the holidays, we vote with our dollars, and at our house, we really try to prioritize gifting from B corporations when we aren’t buying stuff locally. Companies certified as a B corps show the world that it’s possible to make money without making a negative impact socially and environmentally. Many of the companies infuse activism within the work they’re doing and the certification is becoming more and more popular. I would say the most well known B corp out there is probably Patagonia, but there are so many other brands doing great work, too!
I feel really good about voting for the companies listed in my gift guide below! I have personally purchased and loved items from each of these brands/companies, or they are on my personal wishlist this year!
NOTE: most of these companies currently have big sales for the holidays! Click the links below to learn more.
Bombas Calf Socks $15 // These are on my personal wish list this year! My friend was raving about them the other day! She said they last forever and she has five pairs. They look like they would be super cozy and great for camping/hiking, too! You can also get them in sets to receive 5-10% savings! Stocking stuffers anyone?!
Brass Hammer Hook Earrings $30// These are from one of my favorite brand’s ethical marketplace on their website. I love that they’re made from upcycled materials and that they’re delicate, simple, and pretty. Plus, the price point is awesome!
Compostable Pela Case $50// I just upgraded my phone and bought a Pela case for the second time! I had my other phone for almost 3 years and it’s a record that I didn’t break it or crack the screen. Plus, I was really happy knowing that it’s biodegradable. When mine arrived this time around, my hubby was a little jealous that he didn’t get one for himself. These range in price point depending on the phone you have, and they usually have a discount going on!
Baabuk Slippers $65// So, I bought these for quite a few people on my Christmas list this year, plus a pair for myself. I also bought them for one of my besties for her birthday back in July and she said she is straight up obsessed with them (LIKE, to the point she bought them for her husband, too!). The couple who founded the company started making wool slippers in their kitchen, and they’ve since grown their brand to what it is today.
Ultimate Renewal Bath Set $89// I got this for myself this year. It includes a dry brush, sugar scrub, and the most luxurious body oil. I’m serious when I say I’ve never loved a bath product more. Beautycounter was founded by a woman who got frustrated watching her friends struggle with infertility and cancer. When she learned about the harmful ingredients allowed in personal care products, she decided to start a company that made great products without them. The company also lobbies in Washington for stricter regulations around ingredient safety.
Allbirds sneakers $95// Boy do I love my Allbirds! They’re made from merino wool so they are breathable, temperature regulating, AND moisture wicking. I love that this company sources wool from farms with ethical standards surrounding land management and animal welfare. I’ve worn these shoes most of my pregnancy, and got them for a couple family members I know love to go on daily walks.
Athleta Balance Dress $89//My aunt gave me an Athleta gift card a few christmases ago and I bought one of Athleta’s dresses with it. Oh my goodness, the material is so soft, durable, and lasts forever. I washed it a million times and it never pilled, either! I love the neutral tone of this dress, that it has pockets, and that it can be worn with or without leggings!
Nisolo Lana Ankle Boot $200// So, I know these are a splurge.. I bought them for myself during the Black Friday sales last year because I was tired of buying boots at target that lasted one season and then needed to be donated or tossed. Before I got these, I splurged on a pair of Frye boots and they totally fell apart. I wore through the sole in 1 season and the stitching came out between the leather and the sole. THESE BOOTS, however, have held up so well. The leather is gorgeous, and the brand has so much heart. Like, so, so much. I was really impressed with their social mission report, the way they are educating their employees on financial management, and their sustainability practices. I could go on about them forever because I think they’re that cool. You’re gonna love ’em!
Patagonia Pelican Fleece Jacket $169// Welp, this brand needs no introduction! I am almost embarrassed to say I have 6 Patagonia fleeces/jackets total.. and that my husband has 4. Their stuff holds up so well, it keeps us warm during the winter months and when we’re camping, and they even have a lifetime warranty on their products. So, if the zipper breaks or the product tears, you can bring it in and they will fix it for you. While the clothing is at a higher price point, the fact it not only lasts, but that they’ll fix it 10 years later, really makes it worth it. I love the style of this particular jacket and if I had any more room in my closet for cute Patagonia coats, I’d definitely be getting this one.
